Amsterdam Fashion Week photo diary

Amsterdam Fashion Week was fun fun fun! Outside it was very cold. On the inside however it was tropical. How Programme Director Carlo Wijnands kept his cool, while wearing a tuxedo and an Ajax scarf… I really don’t know! Maybe the refreshing drinks helped. (Vita Coco coconut water was one of the sponsors...yummy!)

There were of course many fashion shows, events and after parties, but here are some of the highlights.
Memorable: extremely high heels at Dennis Diem…
Beautiful dresses and flowers at Edwin Oudshoorn...
Gorgeous yellow cocktail skirts and pants by Dorhout Mees...
A little scary: the masks at Jan Boelo...
(great metallic maxi skirts though)
A very wearable collection by Tony Cohen...
(the big fedoras reminded me a bit of Saint Laurent)
A trip around the world with Spijkers & Spijkers...

But most of all, it was a lot of fun to meet old & new friends, to see and be seen, to dress up for the occasion, to snoop around backstage with my friend Lisette, visit a fashion show with my mom, have dinner and drinks at Cafe Restaurant Amsterdam... and to be able to photograph so many fashionable people for my blog!

Pictured here among others:

Thanks everybody!!!

Another Blue Monday...

It's another Blue Monday to me.... the weather is cold, windy and grey! The holidays are still far away... and I got a cold. Buy hey, you gotta cheer yourself up. So here's my (second) Blue Monday inspiration: coffee, italian chocolate and some serious daydreaming material...

Jan Boelo at Amsterdam Fashion Week

Tonight I went to the Fall-Winter 14/15 fashion show by Dutch Designer Jan Boelo. The 25-year old Boelo used to be a protegé of Edgar Vos, Jan Taminiau and even worked at Balmain. As could be expected, the place was packed! There were many celebrities front row, including singer Eva Simons.

Boelo used dark colours, giving the collection obviously a “dark” vibe. Although I have to say the brown and gold hues felt “warm” at the same time. There was of course lots of leather (Boelo’s trademark), but he mixed it up with luxurious fabrics such as silk, lame’, silver and gold brocade.

Game of Thrones eat your heart out! These tough knights and beautiful -yet fierce- princesses were transported from the Middle Ages right into the 21st century… making it a collection for strong personalities, who don’t mind standing out in the crowd.
