Cruising with Club Med

Relaxing by the pool, cocktail in hand, meeting new people, exploring new places, sightseeing in charming old villages, shopping for cute souvenirs, eating fresh fruit, salad and grilled fish for lunch, with a sea view, watching dolphins swim by, waterskiing, spending long summer nights under the starry sky, dancing salsa, partying all night long… what more can you wish for on your summer holiday?

Exactly! My holiday ticked all the boxes, when I went cruising on one of the biggest (if not the biggest) sailingships in the world, the Club Med 2. It was a dream come true! Or actually, I have to admit I never really dreamed about going on a cruise. Like many people, I had my reservations (and maybe even some prejudices) about cruising. Boy, was I wrong!

There was a young crowd, who liked to be active during the day and party every night. There were great G.O’s (“gentils organisateurs”), in other words Club Med staff members, who went to great lengths to make sure you had a good time. They became like family.

We departed from Nice, France and sailed around the island of Corsica, stopping along the way. First stop was the small town of Calvi, second Bonifacio, which was mindblowing and last but not least, Portofino in Italy, before we returned to Nice. I absolutely loved all these ports of call! For those who know me that should come as no surprise, since I love boats, marinas, harbours and cities by the sea.

Every night there was a cocktail party with a different dress code, so I packed for a "45" theme (read more about it here: http://tarasdolcevita.blogspot.nl/2017/08/catch-of-day-club-med-t-shirt.html), a nautical theme, a white party and a gala night.
The stern of the ship was the place to be. Every afternoon after the guests had their last dip in the pool, the G.O.s decorated the whole area, turning it upside down and transforming it into a chic club.

I had the time of my life and could go on and on about it (and have hundreds of photos…), so I will be back soon with more stories about this amazing sailing cruise!
